Highway West Vacations has announced the successful debut of two design-forward boutique hotels in the Californian village of Solvang.
The group behind a host of accommodation options across the Great American West, Highway West Vacations is making its marks in Solvang, California with the introduction of The Winston and Vinland Hotel & Lounge. We take a closer look.
New energy in Solvang
Adding to its collection of boutique hotels and marking its expansion in Santa Barbara wine country, Highway West Vacations is bringing energy to the Danish village of Solvang in the Santa Ynez Valley with two new locations. Both properties combine striking personalities with modern amenities, while adding to the development of this picturesque settlement.
“Solvang is entering an exciting new era with lots of farm-fresh restaurants and retail shops popping up, and these new hotels – and especially V Lounge – are at the forefront of what’s proving to be a new modern direction for this beloved little town,” said Matt Bernard, regional general manager of The Winston and Vinland Hotel & Lounge. “These striking new hotels and vibrant lounges are truly unlike anything else in the valley, further expanding the area’s hospitality offerings and providing a perfect launching pad to enjoy all the culture, wine, cuisine and activities this region has to offer.”
Hotels that celebrate their location
Visitors to The Winston, which opened in August, can expect an upscale, 14-room property in Solvang’s historic Old Mill Clock Tower. This site pairs old-world charm with the new hotel’s vibrant decor and contemporary feel, which is enhanced by eclectic objects from around the world. Each of the one-of-a-kind rooms and suites is unique in its design, with bold colours, interesting textures, patterns and oversized headboards. For more of a residential feel, guests are treated as though they’re visiting someone’s home, but with the addition of luxury amenities such as upscale bathroom products, complimentary breakfast delivered to the door and a guest-only honour bar.
Vinland Hotel & Lounge, meanwhile, is just a few minutes away in Mission Drive. The 82-room hotel, which opened in May, has a clean, modern design that focuses on elevating the traditional Solvang hotel experience. Standout amenities here include a heated pool and hot tub, cold-brew coffee bar and partnerships with local wineries that deliver exclusive vineyard experiences to guests of the property’s top suites. The hotel is soon to debut its onsite restaurant V Lounge, focusing on fresh Californian food with Danish flair, along with local wines, innovative cocktails and craft beers.
“We are excited to welcome eager travellers looking for a quick summer getaway considering all the pent-up demand over the past few months,” said Bernard. “As the hotels are situated just a few hours by car from both the Bay Area and Greater Los Angeles, we’re already seeing impressive summer and fall bookings and have special protocol and policies in place to safely accommodate those itching to hit the road for that quintessential California road trip.”
Both hotels have designed responsible guest experiences in line with the latest travel standards. Vinland Hotel & Lounge offers contactless check-in and The Winston promises an invisible guest-service model. These hands-off hospitality initiatives are intended to enhance the safety and security of guests, while still providing a personalised luxury hotel experience.
